I suppose if there was a sufficiently old race that met them, there might be clues as to their origin, or if you were to look in the right spot from far enough away you could see some of the events of their past play out (given how long it takes light to travel). We are going to take video footage for future comparison. Year γ: we are beginning to suspect that maybe that these are all the same Novakid, trapped in some sort of time-loop. They made fun of our appearance, but are otherwise friendly. We spoke briefly, and we gave them the blueprints for hyperwave communication if they are willing to contact us again in the future. Year β: second encounter with the Novakid in over a millennium. Year α: encountered a peoples called "Novakid." We spoke briefly, and we gave them the blueprints for radio communication if they are willing to contact us again in the future. Oh, yeah, certainly other races have records of encounters with these guys - though for the most part it's stuff like: Bietol, the creator of the Novakid concept, put it best here: The Novakid just don't care to keep their own history. They never really had any lore written for them, so when the lore, quest, and progression revision happened in the last release before 1.0, Novakid were likely left out as there was never anything really to revise.Īs to the issue with no history, there is technically some, but only as written by other races that have encountered them. Production-wise, Novakid are a "bonus race", created due to meeting a stretch goal. Why entrust anything with such meaning to the entire universe to a race that don't even care to keep track of themselves? The reason they are not in the story is more likely because, due to their short attention span, any artifact that could have been bestowed upon them would have been kicked into a corner and lost rather quickly. Their official description more infers that their existence is attributed to randomness, as anything else, reading off of the usage of "emergent beauty". The idea seems to be that novakid don't record things due to their short attention spans, but I very much wish they had more concrete lore.Ĭouldn't they at least have oral traditions and stories passed down through generations until recorded by some scholar that encountered them? Tales that are only barely believable, but novakid "history" nonetheless.īut. It seems like a really threadbare connection to me, hardly well implied and much less concerned, and I don't to believe it, but eh, that's what some people are utterly convinced of. Originally posted by Dylan the Cartographer:Apparently, as I was informed, that last divine monologue from the cultivator "implies" the novakid are the remains of the cultivator.
